Rachel Ray is a terrorist!!

I suppose I have to ask the question that EVERYONE wants the answer to and that is…why does Rachel Ray hate America? With all the blessings that have been bestowed upon her, from her rock star success on the Food Network to her best selling books and ultimately her own semi-successful talk show you’d think she would have a little more appreciation to this great nation. If you haven’t heard the controversy over Rachel Ray’s ad for Dunkin’ Donuts on the web than perhaps it’s time to have “the talk”. You see, an ad was revealed this week for the sweet, yummy dough company, with a photo of the terminally cutesy Rachel Ray wearing (God, I hope your sitting down)…a paisley scarf!!!!

Yes, the same “type” of paisley scarf that was popularized by Yasser Arafat which is also known as a ‘kaffiyeh’. Thankfully, the conservative bulldog, hater of all things cute and snuggly and oblivious fashion critic, Michelle Malkin, noticed the scandalous accessory wrapped tastefully around Ms. Ray’s neck in the nick of time. Malkin calls it a "jihadi chic keffiyeh". Due to her hypercritical and diligent interpretive skills, she successfully had a hand in the removal of said jihadist propaganda. The ad was immediately taken down. If Ms. Malkin hadn’t taken action, who knows how many innocent and naïve American’s would’ve lost their lives to the bombardment of IED’s (improvised exploding doughballs). If you thought “Shock and Awe” was a great success, just imagine the destruction from a “Chop and Thaw” campaign! How dare Ms. Ray spit in the face of those who’ve made her financially set for life…how dare she hate freedom? How dare she hate...the donuts!

Well, I have a question for Ms. Malkin…

Where was her fervor when this ad appeared?

Or this one...?

Or worse yet, this one...?

As stated in an AP report:
Amahl Bishara, a University of Chicago anthropology lecturer who specializes in media matters relating to the Middle East, said complaints about the scarf's use demonstrate misunderstandings of Arab culture and the multiple meanings symbols can take on depending on someone's perspective.
"I think that a right-wing blogger making an association between a kaffiyeh and terrorism is just an example of how so much of the complexity of Arab culture has been reduced to a very narrow vision of the Arab world on the part of some people in the U.S.,'' Bishara said.
"Kaffiyehs are worn every day on the street by Palestinians and other people in the Middle East – by people going to work, going to school, taking care of their families, and just trying to keep warm.
"To reduce their meaning to support for terrorism has a tacit racist tone to it," Bishara said.

Ms. Malkin, with all her ethnicity, couldn’t spot diversity looking into a mirror.

Does this mean that if your going to a “Toga” party than you must be a supporter of the KKK. After all, what else could it mean, wearing a white sheet?

If my youngest son is wearing a hand me down pair of pants that are a little too big, does that indicate he’s part of the gang culture?

And let’s not pretend to notice the bigger issues here, the issues way beyond Ms. Malkin’s comprehension or hubris…that Dunkin’ Donuts, which is owned by Dunkin’ Brands, which in turn is owned by The Carlyle Group, did not hesitate to immediately withdraw that “offensive” ad. The Carlyle Group and the Bush administration are old buddies dating back to it’s formation in the mid 80’s. George W. Bush himself was a board member responsible for (yet another) failing business venture in 1989 giving Carlyle founder David Rubenstein reason to say:

“So you know, if you said to me, name 25 million people who would maybe be President of the United States, he (George W. Bush) wouldn't have been in that category.”

But never fear Georgy, because Daddy always comes to the rescue. As always, Senior Bush cleaned up after young W by serving as a senior adviser for the Group up until 2003, as did James Baker and Reagan Secretary of Defense, Frank Carlucci. Under their watch, The Carlyle group grew into the mega-billion dollar company it is today. Gee…what a coinkydink. Seems that The Carlyle Group owes the Bush family a big Texas -sized thank you. Like eating the dollars from a big ad campaign that was "swift-boated" by conservative wing-nuts with deep pockets.

I’m not so sure our biggest problems in this country are national defense, immigration or social security. I think the bigger problem is political and corporate promiscuity. Everyone with power seems to be in bed with each other. Which is why puppets like Michelle Malkin can’t last very long...who's going to lie in bed with a block of ice?
